NBP reference rate (stopa referencyjna NBP)
The main interest rate of Narodowy Bank Polski (NBP, the central bank of Poland), set by the Monetary Policy Council (RPP). It affects the cost of money in the economy and, indirectly, market indices and the instalments of variable-rate loans.
The RPP decides on rates at its meetings, and the NBP publishes a statement and the current rate on its website. The reference rate is usually not written directly into a mortgage agreement, but changes to it quickly feed through to the indices on which the interest rate depends.
