POLSTR instead of WIBOR — what changes in your instalment?

The switch is neutral by design: a corrective spread bridges the level difference, so your instalment barely moves. Check it on your own numbers.

Data is being updated — showing the latest available values.

Current WIBOR and POLSTR values are published by their administrator, GPW Benchmark. We do not repeat them here: redistributing this data requires a separate licence agreement with the administrator.

We'll send the PDF and let you know when market conditions change — e.g. after an NBP decision or when your bank cuts its margin.

What actually lowers your instalment

Moving to POLSTR does not save on its own. Real savings come from refinancing — see how much you could gain.

Which banks have already announced the switch

We track the banks' announcements. Below is what is already known, with the date and the scope of the change.

PKO Bank Polski and PKO Bank Hipoteczny from 3 September 2026 new loans only

The first bank to move mortgages to POLSTR. The index itself appeared earlier — Pekao launched a current-account credit on it in November 2025 — but PKO is first to switch home loans. POLSTR 1M Compounded replaces WIBOR.

The rate is recalculated every month rather than every 3 or 6 months. When the NBP cuts rates, your payment falls the following month — and it rises just as quickly after a hike.

This applies to new contracts only. If you already hold a PKO mortgage, nothing changes for you on 3 September — moving existing contracts is a separate process, described below.

Frequently asked questions

Will switching WIBOR to POLSTR raise my instalment?

No. The switch is neutral by design — a corrective spread bridges the level difference, so the instalment stays close.

What is the corrective spread?

A value added at the switch that offsets the difference between WIBOR and POLSTR at that moment, keeping the effect neutral.

Do I have to sign anything?

Usually not — the bank notifies you. Details depend on your contract; if in doubt, consult an adviser.

How do I actually lower my instalment?

Most often by refinancing to a bank with a lower margin. Use the refinancing calculator.
