Notarial deed (akt notarialny)

A document drawn up by a notary that has the force of an official document. Without it you cannot effectively transfer ownership of a flat or house.

The notary checks the parties' identity and the property documents, reads the deed aloud, and after signing sends applications to the court for entries in the land and mortgage register, e.g. of ownership and the mortgage. The notary also collects the taxes and fees due, including PCC and court fees.
